Case Study: Suburban School District Implements PD Solution to Overcome Technology Challenge

in Atomic Learning, Education, K12, professional development, technology

Independent School District 197 has always prided itself on providing students with a sound, comprehensive education that enriches their lives and prepares them for their future. But like most schools, ISD 197 faces a significant technology challenge.

Most of the teachers in the district have more than 20 years of teaching experience and began their teaching careers before the current technology revolution. Providing technology training and professional development on the application of technology to 21st century learning is critical to ISD 197’s success.

Enter Atomic Learning. “Once teachers start using Atomic Learning, they can see how easy it is to use and they become more comfortable using technology tools,” according to Margaret Hinke, Technology Integration Specialist with ISD 197. “This increases the amount of time they use technology in the classroom with students engaging in 21st century learning. ”

in Atomic Learning, K12, collaboration, new, professional development, teacher, training

Districts across the U.S. are utilizing numerous resources to provide teachers with a well-rounded professional development program. While the use of multiple resources allows districts to provide comprehensive training, it creates a challenge for end users in accessing resources from various websites and managing multiple log-ins.

To begin addressing this challenge, Atomic Learning and School Improvement Network announce a collaboration to provide shared resources to guide educators on a path to technology-empowered learning.

With the release of Atomic Learning’s new Effective Online Teaching and Learning spotlight program and PD 360’s Technology Pedagogy training, the companies have come together to build a free educator forum on the topic where all educators can explore the topic of online teaching and learning.  This forum, which is freely available to all educators at http://www.pd360.com/index.cfm?joinGroup=16249 includes free resources and discussions such as:
