Guest Post by Bill Lester, a passionate educator and traveling teacher.

The idea of using technology in the mainstream classroom is something that has been known by teachers for quite a long time.  It started out as trying to have a good mixture of “plugged-in” and “unplugged”, but now it’s all about the different strategies so that the students are staying “plugged-in” to technology as long as they can during the learning process.  This is even true for ESL students who have sophisticated translators at their disposal.  However, there isn’t much conversation about how to use technology in the Special Education classroom.

New Workshop: Authentic Student Assessment Using iPads

in 1:1 intitiative, assessment, atomic mobilize, iPads, tech integration, training

With more and more schools using iPads®, many teachers are left wondering how to adapt their instruction to take full advantage of these new devices. In this new Atomic Mobilize online training workshop, you will follow Brad Flickinger, a Colorado Tech Teacher, as he uses iPads to assess his students' learning.

This workshop is based on the principles of Bloom's Digital Taxonomy and is relevant and adaptable for teachers of all age levels and subjects. He even explains how other tablets can be used instead of iPads.

Flickinger believes that for the highest levels of learning to occur, the assessments must be authentic - something that if used correctly, the iPad can accomplish.
